The 3rd FIGH Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will be held from November 20-24 at the Manila Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City, featuring two official mascots, “Bughaw” and “Lila,” representing men’s and women’s events, respectively.
Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion said the mascots aim to inspire young athletes and attract the millennial audience to the five-day competition.
The event, sanctioned by the International Gymnastics Federation, will showcase six apparatus for men and four for women, with several hotels in Pasay City serving as official accommodations.
Local interest is boosted by Filipino athletes Karl Eldrew Yulo and Elisabeth Antone, who recently won medals in international junior competitions and are expected to shine in Manila.
Carrion expressed hope that the tournament, backed by the Office of the President, the Philippine Sports Commission, and sponsors like Milo, will spotlight the future stars of gymnastics and generate excitement among fans.
