Isabela 6th District Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy III was formally elected as the new House Speaker with 253 votes on Wednesday, succeeding Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
Dy pledged to restore public trust by pursuing budget reforms, promoting transparency, and combating corruption, especially in flood control projects under investigation.
He vowed that no one, regardless of rank or position, would be shielded from accountability and emphasized full cooperation with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure.
Dy called on lawmakers to unite in supporting reforms that align the national budget with the needs of the Filipino people.
Senator Francis Escudero welcomed Dy’s leadership but reminded that unresolved issues from past budgets must still be addressed to ensure true institutional reform.
