Artworks created by current and former persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) will be featured in a special auction titled “Pinta ng Pagasa,” organized by the Bagong Buhay Group of Artists (BAGA) in partnership with Leon Gallery.
The auction features winning and finalist pieces from the inaugural National PDL art competition, which drew participation from over 180 PDLs nationwide.
The initiative, supported by the Justice Sector Coordinating Council, aims to showcase the rehabilitative power of art and highlight the talents of PDLs.
Joey de Leon, BAGA president and former PDL, emphasized that incarceration is a step toward rehabilitation and reintegration.
The auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to the artists and their families, will be held online on July 19, 2025, and will feature a physical preview from July 12 to 18.
