Senator Jinggoy Estrada filed Senate Bill No. 1011 to offer higher rewards for informants who expose large-scale tax evasion and smuggling.
The measure seeks to replace the outdated P1 million reward cap with payments of up to P10 million or a percentage of recovered taxes or confiscated goods.
The bill also guarantees informant confidentiality and imposes strict penalties for unauthorized disclosure.
Only information that leads to actual recovery or seizures qualifies for rewards, while government officials and their relatives are barred from claiming them.
Estrada said the law aims to encourage public cooperation, strengthen tax enforcement, and combat corruption and smuggling in the country.
