Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero warned contractors involved in alleged anomalous flood control projects that those who skip the next Senate blue ribbon committee hearing on September 1 will face arrest warrants. Escudero confirmed he has signed subpoenas ordering the heads of 15 construction companies, previously named by President Marcos Jr. as beneficiaries of 20% of the ₱545 billion flood control budget, to attend the hearing. Only 11 contractors initially responded, and only seven appeared at the first hearing. Escudero emphasized the need to investigate and hold accountable those behind any corruption or ghost projects. He vowed not to hesitate in signing arrest warrants for those who fail to comply with Senate subpoenas.
