ERC APPROVES ALTERNERGY’S ₱1.8 BILLION GRID CONNECTION PROJECT

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved Alternergy Holdings Corp.’s ₱1.8-billion project to build a transmission facility linking its 64-megawatt Alabat wind farm in Quezon to the Luzon grid.

The project includes installing a substation at the wind farm and a 37-kilometer transmission line connecting Alabat and Lopez municipalities, which will tie into the National Grid Corporation’s existing transmission system.

AWPC president Gerry Magbanua called the approval a major milestone, reinforcing their commitment to renewable energy and reliable power supply.

Alternergy is also developing other renewable projects, including the 128-MW Tanay wind power plant in Rizal, aiming for a total capacity of 500 MW by 2026.

Founded by former energy secretary Vince Perez, Alternergy focuses on wind, hydro, solar, battery storage, and offshore wind energy projects across the country.
