The Independent Commission for Infrastructure, in coordination with the DPWH, has referred eight lawmakers, including Rep. Jernie Jett Nisay of Pusong Pinoy Party-list, to the Office of the Ombudsman over alleged plunder, direct bribery, and graft related to government flood control projects.
Nisay, who recently endorsed the first impeachment complaint against President Marcos, reportedly managed JVN Construction and Trading, which received contracts totaling P73.75 million from 2021 to 2022.
Other implicated “cong-tractors” include Reps. Edwin Gardiola, James Ang Jr., Augustina Dominique Pancho, Joseph Lasam Lara, Francisco Matugas, Noel Rivera, and fugitive former lawmaker Zaldy Co.
ICI chairman Andres Reyes Jr. emphasized that members of Congress must not participate in or benefit from government contracts, highlighting conflicts of interest.
Meanwhile, Bayan criticized the ICI for failing to investigate alleged Palace involvement and for conducting closed-door sessions, calling the inaction a “sin of omission.”
