The National Unity Party (NUP) stressed that any impeachment complaint against Sara Duterte must be backed by “clear, compelling, and credible evidence,” particularly regarding allegations of misuse of confidential funds.
NUP Chairman Ronaldo Puno said the House Committee on Justice hearings should present proof from the Anti-Money Laundering Council or similar authorities showing that funds were used for personal purposes.
The vice president’s defense team has expressed confidence that a fair review will reveal the complaints lack a factual or legal basis.
Four impeachment complaints have been filed, with the first set aside and the second withdrawn, while the third and fourth concern alleged constitutional violations and misuse of OVP and DepEd funds.
Puno reiterated that the party will vote against impeachment if no credible evidence emerges.
