Vice President Sara Duterte denied reports that former President Rodrigo Duterte’s legal team applied for interim release in Australia related to the ICC’s investigation of his war on drugs.
She clarified in an interview on June 27 that no application or discussion about interim release had been made with the Australian government.
The denial came after an email allegedly from Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade circulated, which she said she did not know the source or recipient of.
Duterte also confirmed that while two countries were mentioned by the defense team as possible interim release locations, Australia was not one of them.
She urged the public not to confuse a list of potential countries with formal applications for interim release.
