During a Senate finance committee hearing on the Office of the Vice President’s P2.037-billion budget request for 2025, Vice President Sara Duterte and Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros clashed over a P10-million book project.
Hontiveros questioned the allocation for the book titled “Isang Kaibigan,” intended for public school children, but Duterte dismissed the inquiry as politicking and cited past criticisms from Hontiveros.
The debate escalated with Duterte accusing Hontiveros of politicizing the budget discussion, while Hontiveros argued that Duterte’s responses were irrelevant to the budget at hand.
The Vice President also clarified her lack of interest in running for the presidency in 2028 and expressed frustration over ongoing impeachment discussions against her.
Meanwhile, ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo denied any current impeachment plans against Duterte, asserting that there is no such movement in the House of Representatives.
