The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is seeking public feedback on a draft policy that would require mandatory permits for all advertising and sales promotions of vape products, devices, and novel tobacco products.
Under the proposal, businesses must secure an Advertisement Permit (AP) or Sales Promotion Permit (SPP) from the DTI’s Office for the Special Mandate on Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products before releasing any campaign material.
The draft also mandates age-gating measures online and limits the location of physical stores to at least 100 meters away from schools and areas frequented by minors.
Campaigns must be filed at least 30 days before publication and can last up to one year, with extensions allowed for six months.
The policy aligns with the Vape Law and aims to prevent minors from accessing vaping products, complementing the Department of Health’s call to restrict advertisements promoting vaping as a safer alternative to cigarettes.
