During a recent House of Representatives hearing, former Bureau of Customs intelligence officer Jimmy Guban alleged that Davao City Rep. Paolo “Polong” Duterte was involved in drug smuggling, including the 2018 seizure of P11 billion worth of shabu.
Guban also implicated lawyer Manases Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, and Chinese businessman Michael Yang.
Guban, who is currently serving a prison sentence for drug smuggling, claimed he was instructed to ease the processing of shipments linked to these individuals.
In response, Duterte denied any connection to Guban and dismissed his claims as false, while journalist Paul Gutierrez labeled Guban a “liar” and denied any involvement.
The quad committee, which is investigating the allegations, plans to invite all mentioned individuals for further questioning.
