The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has warned the fireworks industry that unsafe production and handling practices will not be tolerated, especially during the year-end surge in activity.
Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said inspections are being intensified in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Philippine National Police, and local government units.
Labor Advisory 18, Series of 2025, reminds manufacturers, distributors, and retailers to comply with Occupational Safety and Health Standards, with violations facing immediate enforcement.
The advisory follows the October explosion at an illegal fireworks facility in Bulacan that killed two workers and injured five.
DOLE has instructed regional directors to step up inspections and submit monitoring reports, while only 14 licensed manufacturers are legally authorized to produce fireworks nationwide.
