A mayoral candidate from Cabiao, Nueva Ecija, has filed a disqualification complaint against incumbent Mayor Ramil Bustamante Rivera for making vulgar and discriminatory remarks against his political opponents.
Marcelo Santos, along with nine other opposition candidates, accused Rivera of red-tagging, defamation, and violating the Commission on Elections (Comelec) guidelines on fair campaigning.
The complaints highlight Rivera’s use of derogatory language, including calling rivals “criminal commanders” and “murderers-for-hire,” with no evidence.
The opposition claims these actions violate several election laws, potentially inciting violence and undermining fair elections.
They have called for the immediate issuance of a show-cause order and the deployment of Comelec monitors in Cabiao.
