Walt Disney and DirecTV failed to reach a new distribution deal, resulting in over 11 million DirecTV subscribers losing access to ESPN, ABC, and other Disney-owned networks.
The blackout occurred just days before the NFL season kickoff and an upcoming ABC News presidential debate.
DirecTV has been negotiating with Disney since May, seeking to offer smaller, more affordable packages, including options without ESPN.
Disney, however, refused to agree to terms that it felt undervalued its channels.
The previous agreement between the companies was negotiated in 2019.
