Angelica Escalona, a seasoned career diplomat, has been appointed as the new spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), replacing Ma. Teresita Daza.
She was introduced by Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro on August 1 during a press briefing.
Escalona has held various important roles within the DFA, including Executive Director of the Office of Consular Affairs and Director for ASEAN, European, Asian, and American Affairs.
Her overseas postings include serving as Consul General in Toronto, Canada, as well as assignments in Indonesia, Japan, and the United States.
She holds advanced degrees in Foreign Affairs and International Relations and has received several prestigious awards for her diplomatic service.
