The Department of Education (DepEd) continues to prepare for the June 16 opening of classes despite Education Secretary Sonny Angara’s courtesy resignation following President Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet reshuffle.
Angara submitted his resignation as part of the president’s directive after a poor showing by Marcos-backed candidates in the recent midterm elections, but the president has yet to accept it.
Angara remains active in his duties, including attending the Palarong Pambansa opening in Laoag alongside Marcos, while DepEd programs proceed without interruption.
This marks the second leadership change at DepEd under the current administration, after Vice President Sara Duterte’s resignation last year.
President Marcos said the Cabinet realignment aims to meet public expectations for results rather than politics.
