The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved a PHP2,000 across-the-board increase in compensation for teachers and poll workers serving in the May 12 midterm elections.
Under the new rates, Electoral Board chairpersons will receive PHP12,000, up from PHP10,000, while poll clerks and third members will receive PHP11,000, up from PHP9,000.
Support staff will also see an increase, receiving PHP8,000, up from PHP6,000.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman emphasized that the increase reflects President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s commitment to supporting teachers.
With 758,549 poll workers, the DBM has allocated PHP7.480 billion for their compensation, urging agencies like the Comelec to ensure the timely release of the payments.
