The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the creation of 16,000 new teaching positions for the School Year 2025–2026, the first tranche of a planned 20,000 new jobs this year.
This initiative supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen the education system and boost the teaching workforce across all levels, including special science and special education teachers.
The new positions, funded by a ₱4.194 billion allocation from the Department of Education’s budget, will allow flexible deployment, especially for Senior High School teachers, to ensure efficient use of personnel.
The release of appointments will comply with election period restrictions and will proceed after the election ban ends in May.
For the previous school year, over 27 million students enrolled in elementary and high schools nationwide, highlighting the growing demand for more teachers.
