Davao City Councilor Luna Marie Acosta announced a renewed push for traffic-related ordinances to tackle congestion and vehicular noise pollution.
The committee she chairs is prioritizing a clamping zone ordinance targeting illegally parked vehicles in busy areas like Quimpo Boulevard and R. Castillo Street, with fines ranging from P1,000 to P3,000.
The city plans to purchase clamping equipment to enforce the ordinance, which will also expand the authority of the City Transport and Traffic Management Office.
Additionally, the committee is preparing an anti-modified muffler ordinance to reduce noise from customized motorcycles, citing safety and compliance concerns.
Acosta emphasized the city’s commitment to improving traffic conditions and public safety through these new measures.
