DA CALLS ON PRIVATE SECTOR SUPPORT TO MODERNIZE AGRICULTURE

The Department of Agriculture is calling on the private sector to join forces with the government in modernizing the Philippines’ agriculture sector. This plan aims to boost food production and ensure food security for the country’s growing population.

This was announced during the 9th National Agriculture and Fisheries Volunteers’ Day celebration and awarding ceremony of the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF).

The DA emphasized importance of private sector involvement in formulating effective policies and programs for agricultural modernization. The private sector can also assist the government in monitoring policies and projects to ensure that they are effective and efficient.

The agency has been meeting with various stakeholders and is working to drum up support for the government’s push for food self-sufficiency, reduced agricultural imports, and making agriculture a more attractive career option for young people.

The DA is planning to step up efforts to mechanize farming, build more agricultural infrastructure, and adopt the latest technologies to improve food production.

The agency will also focus on important sectors like rice, livestock, poultry, fisheries, and high-value crops to ensure that affordable food is available to everyone.

PCAF is an attached agency of the DA that works to promote private-public partnerships in agriculture and fisheries. The agency also facilitates broad-based participatory development in the sector.
