Outgoing Senator Cynthia Villar announced her intention to run for mayor of Las Piñas City, stating she believes she can make a significant impact there.
Villar, who will complete her Senate term in 2025, mentioned that her daughter Camille is preparing to run for the Senate, while her husband, former Senate President Manny Villar, and her son, Senator Mark Villar, prefer she secure a seat in the House of Representatives.
Despite family preferences, Villar is focused on her mayoral bid and plans to finalize her decision by October, the deadline for filing a Certificate of Candidacy.
If she proceeds, she will face her niece, Vice Mayor April Aguilar, but she indicated she would not personally ask Aguilar to withdraw.
Villar also noted that her husband has no plans to return to politics.
