COMELEC PROBES CAMILLE VILLAR OVER ALLEGED VOTE BUYING

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will issue a show cause order (SCO) to senatorial candidate Camille Villar over alleged vote buying at a Cavite event where she was seen raffling off cash prizes.

The complaint stemmed from an anonymous tip and a Facebook video dated February 16.

Comelec is verifying whether the event took place during the official campaign period, which would make it a potential election offense.

Villar, however, denied the allegations, claiming the event occurred on February 9, before the campaign period began.

She expressed confidence that Comelec would clear her name after reviewing her explanation.
