CO: PUBLIC WANTS EVIDENCE ADDRESSED, NOT STATUS UPDATES

Renee Co said the public expects Sara Duterte to directly answer the evidence presented against her rather than provide status updates during her impeachment trial.

Reacting to Duterte’s “bloodied but unbowed” remark before the second day of proceedings, Co said Filipinos want the Vice President to personally face the charges before the Senate impeachment court.

House prosecution panel spokesman and former congressman Ace Barbers echoed the call, describing the trial as Duterte’s opportunity to respond to allegations that have been publicly discussed for the past two years.

Barbers said the impeachment proceedings provide the proper venue for the Vice President to address the accusations against her.

The statements came as the Senate impeachment trial continues to hear the case against Duterte.
