The House prosecution began presenting evidence in the impeachment trial of Sara Duterte by calling John Mark Calilung, who authenticated a video allegedly showing Duterte making grave threats against Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Calilung testified that he verified the integrity of the Nov. 23, 2024 livestream by comparing it with the original recording, generating a digital hash value, and requesting preservation of the video from Meta Platforms.
Prosecutors played the authenticated video before the Senate impeachment court, where Duterte was heard making statements that form the basis of Article IV of the Articles of Impeachment.
The NBI also testified that it uncovered an earlier October 2024 online press conference in which Duterte allegedly made similar remarks directed at President Marcos.
The prosecution said Calilung’s testimony establishes the evidentiary foundation for additional witnesses and documentary evidence supporting the grave threats charge.
