China has denied allegations of interfering in the Philippines’ upcoming midterm elections on May 12, 2025, reaffirming its policy of non-interference in other nations’ internal affairs.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun stated that China has “no interest” in meddling in Philippine elections.
The denial comes after National Security Council official Jonathan Malaya suggested in a Senate hearing that there were signs of potential Chinese influence targeting candidates critical of Beijing.
Malaya claimed there were indications of state-sponsored information operations designed to sway election outcomes.
He also cited intelligence reports that Chinese-linked entities were amplifying divisive political narratives in the country.
