Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña criticized senators for allegedly rushing to dismiss Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment complaint.
He questioned if the haste was due to the Senate being “full,” referring to the high number of senators expected to vote for dismissal.
The Supreme Court previously ruled the impeachment complaint unconstitutional for violating the one-year filing rule, and the Senate is set to vote on the matter on August 6.
Cendaña led the filing of a motion for reconsideration on the Supreme Court’s decision, urging the court to act on it first.
He emphasized that accountability and justice should not be overlooked despite the rush to dismiss the case.
