Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano assured the public that the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte will proceed without delay once the House of Representatives formally transmits the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate.
He said he has already coordinated with former Senate president Vicente Sotto III and plans to call a majority caucus to ensure a fair and unified process.
Cayetano emphasized that the Senate will prioritize accountability while avoiding prolonged proceedings that could disrupt its legislative work.
The House, meanwhile, has yet to transmit the impeachment documents as thousands of pages are still being finalized and verified, even as it has already named 11 prosecutors for the case.
Malacañang expressed confidence that the Senate will conduct a fair trial, citing the importance of due process in resolving the allegations against the Vice President.
