Cassandra Ong, a stakeholder in Whirlwind Corporation, insisted to lawmakers that she did not graduate, even from elementary school, despite being shown photos of her in graduation attire.
Ong claimed she attended Manila Patriotic School but failed to complete her elementary education and denied attending high school in China or elsewhere.
When presented with a photo of her in a blue toga, she explained it was from the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System (ALS), which she attended only a few times.
Lawmakers pointed out that ALS is part of the high school education system, questioning how she could enroll without completing the necessary steps.
Ong has faced contempt citations in past hearings for her lack of cooperation, as lawmakers believe her testimony is vital to their investigation into Whirlwind Corporation’s dealings with the Philippine offshore gaming operator Lucky South 99.
