Filipino boxer Johnriel Casimero is set to make his return to the ring after a year-long hiatus, facing American Saul Sanchez at the Yokohama Budokan in Japan this Sunday.
The match is the main event of a three-fight card presented by Treasure Boxing Promotion, which also features Filipino Vince Paras against Japan’s Hiroto Kyoguchi in an undercard bout.
Casimero’s last fight was on October 12, 2022, when he fought to a draw against Yukinori Oguni due to a cut sustained by Oguni.
The former three-division world champion aims to regain his momentum in the super bantamweight division, where Naoya Inoue currently holds the unified title.
Casimero, with a record of 33 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw, is currently ranked seventh by the WBC and hopes to climb back up the ranks following his previous issues with weight and title defenses.
