Actress-comedienne Candy Pangilinan has disclosed her struggle with shingles, a viral infection also known as Herpes Zoster, and is calling for increased awareness.
In a video posted on August 27, Pangilinan detailed her experience with the illness, which is caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus responsible for chickenpox.
She described her condition, including the use of gauze to manage pain and her decision to recover at home rather than being hospitalized.
Pangilinan also shared her concerns about her neurodivergent son, Quentin, and how she minimized contact to avoid potential distress.
She showed the scarring left by the infection and urged viewers to learn more about shingles to better understand and manage the condition.
