The Commission on Appointments (CA) has approved the ad interim appointment of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, dismissing opposition as baseless.
CA members, led by Senate President Francis Escudero, supported Cacdac, highlighting his qualifications as a lawyer and his background as the son of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Rep. Johnny Pimentel, who reviewed the complaints, stated that the allegations against Cacdac were general and lacked specifics, noting that some issues raised were beyond Cacdac’s control.
Cacdac, who previously served as undersecretary and officer-in-charge of the Department of Migrant Workers, was endorsed by other CA members, including Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte and Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.
The approval solidifies Cacdac’s role as the head of the Department of Migrant Workers.
