The Court of Appeals of the Philippines Third Division dismissed the petition of former lawmaker Arnolfo Teves Jr., upholding search warrants and evidence seized during a 2023 raid on his Negros Oriental residence.
The appellate court ruled that the Regional Trial Court did not commit grave abuse of discretion in issuing and sustaining the warrants, which led to the discovery of firearms, explosives, and ammunition.
Teves had argued that the warrants were based on false testimony and that the search exceeded its authorized scope, but the court rejected these claims.
It found that witness testimony used to establish probable cause was credible and properly evaluated by the issuing judge.
The ruling affirms the legality of the search and the admissibility of the seized evidence in ongoing proceedings.
