First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos led a legal assistance, medical mission, and rehabilitation initiative for persons deprived of liberty at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
The program, called “Kulay, Kalinga, Katarungan at Kalayaan,” aimed to promote inmates’ welfare, protect their rights, and help prepare them for reintegration into society.
More than 200 lawyers and representatives from various organizations participated in reviewing cases and processing documents for qualified inmates.
The initiative also provided dermatological and wellness services, alongside painting activities designed to encourage creative expression among inmates.
Authorities said 43 inmates were scheduled for release, while the documents of more than 1,000 others were being processed for possible release in the following weeks, subject to legal requirements.
