BELMONTE, DIZON INSPECT REOPENED CULIAT BRIDGE II IN QUEZON CITY

Light vehicles are now allowed to use Culiat Bridge II along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City after the structure passed load testing and inspection by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Mayor Joy Belmonte and DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon inspected the bridge following the completion of the initial safety assessment.

Buses and trucks remain prohibited from crossing the bridge while further inspections continue to ensure the safety of motorists.

The bridge had been closed on July 12 after a fire destroyed makeshift houses underneath the structure.

The Quezon City government said it has relocated the 38 families affected by the fire and continues to coordinate with the DPWH on the bridge’s full reopening.
