President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized the urgent need for legislative measures that would “fully bring life” to the Constitution and protect Philippine territory, particularly the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Speaking at the 63rd founding anniversary of the Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa), he called on the executive, legislative, and judiciary branches to commit to the unfinished work of democracy.
Marcos highlighted the importance of upholding the rule of law, ensuring justice, and protecting the rights and dignity of every Filipino.
He also reassured the public of the government’s commitment to assert the country’s sovereignty amid rising maritime tensions in the WPS and discussed ongoing legislative efforts, including the Maritime Zones Bill.
Marcos praised Philconsa for its role in defending the Constitution and fostering public awareness about its significance.
