Vice President Sara Duterte remained silent on her impeachment, but her brothers, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte and Rep. Paolo Duterte issued strong warnings against President Marcos and Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Rep. Duterte denounced the impeachment as a politically motivated attack, accusing lawmakers of railroading the process, while Mayor Duterte likened their situation to “cornered animals” that will fight back.
Meanwhile, Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin denied leading the impeachment efforts, calling Rep. Duterte’s claims “fake news” but confirming that she signed the complaint as part of her constitutional duty.
Senator Imee Marcos vowed to fight the impeachment to the end, despite tensions between her brother, President Marcos, and Vice President Duterte.
As the impeachment moves to the Senate, Senate President Francis Escudero urged his colleagues to remain impartial, while the Office of the Vice President’s Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez returned to work after months of political controversy.
