BASTE DUTERTE CHALLENGES PNP CHIEF TO FISTFIGHT; TORRE RESPONDS

Acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte challenged Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III to a fistfight, saying Torre is only brave because of his position.

Torre, who led the arrest of Duterte’s father last March, accepted the challenge and suggested turning it into a charity boxing match to help victims of the southwest monsoon.

He even joked about having boxing legend Manny Pacquiao serve as the referee for the fight.

This is not the first time Duterte and Torre have exchanged barbs, with Duterte questioning Torre’s rapid promotion in the police force.

Torre responded by noting that Duterte’s father had similarly appointed a police chief who jumped ranks, referring to former PNP chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
