Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte was appointed as the new executive vice president of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP-Laban), as announced on Friday.
Duterte took his oath before his father, former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who is also the PDP-Laban chairman.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Senators Ronald dela Rosa and Robinhood Padilla, with Padilla stepping down from the role to become the PDP president.
Baste Duterte’s appointment comes as speculation grows about the Duterte family’s potential Senate runs in the upcoming midterm elections.
Senator dela Rosa welcomed Duterte to the PDP-Laban via a social media post.
