In a remarkable return to international competition, the Philippine women’s ice hockey team secured a resounding 7-4 victory against hosts Kyrgyzstan at the 2024 IIHF Women’s Asia and Oceania Cup held at the Bishkek Arena.
Despite initially trailing 2-3 at the end of the first period, the Philippine team showcased resilience and determination, ultimately denying the home team a win on their ice. Danielle Imperial and Bianca Cuevas played pivotal roles, with Imperial scoring twice and Cuevas contributing a goal and an assist.
After a nail-biting first period, the teams entered the second period tied at 3-all, thanks to Cuevas’ goal. The Philippines surged ahead in the final period, netting four goals to seal the victory, with Cuevas completing a hat-trick and Imperial adding another goal to her tally.
