AUTHORITIES PUSH LGUS TO QUICK-TRACK TELECOM PERMITS OR FACE CONSEQUENCES

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has ordered local government units (LGUs) to fast-track permits for telecommunications infrastructure to support the country’s digital transformation under President Marcos Jr.’s vision.

The directive enforces streamlined processes under Executive Order 32 to reduce red tape, requiring LGUs to process permits within set timelines and establish One-Stop Shops for efficiency.

Officials who delay these processes may face penalties, including fines, suspension, or dismissal under the Ease of Doing Business Act.

The DILG also urged the public to report irregularities, with regional offices monitoring LGU compliance closely.

Additionally, the DILG confirmed the suspension of Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio Umali over quarry permit issues and ensured a smooth transition of leadership to maintain stable governance in the province.
