ALYANSA CANDIDATES PUSH FOR STRONGER ANTI-FAKE NEWS LAWS

Senatorial candidates of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas pledged to push for stronger laws and enforcement against fake news, deepfakes, and online misinformation. 

Former Senate President Tito Sotto vowed to refile an anti-fake news bill, while Senator Francis Tolentino and Rep. Erwin Tulfo emphasized the real-world harm caused by disinformation. 

Makati Mayor Abby Binay stressed the need for strict enforcement, saying violators must be held accountable. 

Former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos highlighted the rise of cybercrime, urging local governments to enhance digital capabilities. 

The candidates collectively called for stricter penalties and technological investments to combat online deception.
