The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) has arrested Lyu Dong, the alleged “kingpin” of a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) hub, in Laguna.
Lyu, who evaded arrest for months, is suspected to be the POGO boss that former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo refused to identify during congressional hearings.
PAOCC Executive Director Gilbert Cruz suggested that Guo may have withheld Lyu’s name because he remains in the country, unlike other POGO bosses she has named who have already left.
Opposition group Akbayan urged the government to pursue cases against Guo and her associates, citing mounting evidence against them.
The operation was carried out by a joint team involving multiple agencies, including the Bureau of Immigration and the Department of Justice.
