Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. (AIC) has completed safety and contingency upgrades at Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA) and Laguindingan Airport, which together handle 20% of Philippine air traffic.
The improvements include upgraded fire detection systems at Laguindingan Airport, technical assessments of firefighting equipment at BPIA, and maintenance of air conditioning and sewage systems to enhance passenger comfort and safety.
These measures aim to increase airport resilience and prepare the facilities for higher traveler volumes in 2026.
AIC oversees BPIA, Laguindingan, and Mactan-Cebu International Airport, which collectively serve 16 million passengers, with each airport designated to serve leisure, service, and connectivity roles.
CEO Cosette Canilao emphasized that the upgrades are part of AIC’s commitment to safer, more reliable, and world-class airport experiences.
