The Philippines has surpassed its 4.8 million tourist arrival target for 2023, welcoming over 5.07 million visitors by December 12th. This translates to significant revenue of P439.5 billion for the country’s tourism industry.
South Korea remains the top source market with 1.34 million arrivals, followed by the United States, Japan, China, and Australia. These figures contribute to creating jobs for Filipinos, as the industry employed 5.35 million people in 2022 with just 2.6 million visitors.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) is optimistic about further growth, aiming to attract 7.7 million tourists in 2024.
The department is implementing several initiatives to achieve this goal, including the National Tourism Development Plan, infrastructure development, enhanced tourist assistance and Increased connectivity, and the “Love The Philippines” campaign.
