17-YEAR-OLD TALLULAH PROULX SHINES IN GIANT SLALOM AT WINTER OLYMPICS

Filipino-American skier Tallulah Proulx, 17, made history as the first Filipina to compete in the Winter Olympics, finishing 52nd out of 76 in the Giant Slalom at Cortina’s Tofane Alpine Skiing Center.

Proulx completed her runs with times of 1:17.15 and 1:24.47 for an aggregate of 2:41.62, beating several older competitors who failed to finish.

Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino praised her performance, noting it as a learning experience with bright prospects ahead.

Among the four 17-year-olds in the field, Proulx was one of only two to finish, while the youngest, 16-year-old Pia Vucinic, and oldest, 46-year-old Sarah Schleper, did not.

She will compete next in the women’s Slalom on Wednesday, concluding the Philippine delegation’s participation at the games.
