Filipino mixed martial artist Denice Zamboanga is set to compete for the ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Championship against Stamp Fairtex on March 1 at ONE 166: Qatar in Lusail Sports Arena.
Zamboanga and Fairtex, who trained together in Pattaya, Thailand, will now face each other for the first time in Zamboanga’s quest for the championship.
Ranked No. 2 in the women’s atomweight category, Zamboanga expressed confidence, believing this opportunity is part of a divine plan after overcoming setbacks.
Fairtex, having won her last four bouts, secured the vacant atomweight belt with a third-round TKO against Zamboanga’s previous opponent, Ham Seo Hee.
The Qatar card also features other title matches, including Filipino Joshua Pacio facing Jarred Brooks for the strawweight diadem, Reiner de Ridder against Anatoly Malykhin for the middleweight crown, and a featherweight title unification bout between Tang Kai and Thanh Le.
