Former lawmaker Zaldy Co is set to be turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) upon arrival in the Philippines before being transferred to the Sandiganbayan to determine his detention status, according to the Philippine National Police.
Authorities said Co remains in custody abroad and is expected to undergo medical and booking procedures once returned, though no exact arrival date has been confirmed.
The case stems from a Sandiganbayan arrest warrant over a P289.5-million flood control project in Oriental Mindoro, after he was declared a fugitive and had his passport canceled.
The government has directed coordination with Czech authorities to ensure proper legal procedures for his turnover. Officials assured readiness for his arrival and subsequent legal processing.
