Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez has announced his candidacy for Congress, aiming to represent the third district of Negros Occidental in the 2025 elections.
He announced during the Padayon Assembly at the Victorias City Coliseum, supported by prominent local figures, including Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and his father, Bacolod Mayor Albee Benitez.
Over 8,000 district leaders attended the assembly, where Javi expressed his readiness to continue the Benitez family’s legacy in public service.
He plans to prioritize climate resiliency and education reform if elected and will run under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
The filing of his Certificate of Candidacy is scheduled for the first week of October, as he endorses incumbent Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III as his successor.
