The Philippines and the United States are working intensively to finalize a trade agreement, focusing on the paused 17 percent reciprocal tariff imposed by the US.
US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson said both countries are committed to reaching a mutually beneficial deal and view trade as an evolving issue.
The US had earlier imposed a 90-day pause on the higher reciprocal tariffs but maintained a 10 percent duty on most trading partners.
The US has requested tariff and quota offers from its trading partners to review and potentially adjust reciprocal tariff rates.
The negotiations aim to support the economic development of the Philippines while strengthening the US-Philippines trade partnership.
